Accommodation and Social |

The Translator as Strategic Partner has been planned to provide many networking and social opportunities in addition to the round-table sessions and conference lunches and tea breaks. You can ensure you are fresh for the Saturday morning sessions by travelling down to London on the Friday evening, registering in advance and joining your colleagues for a drink once you have checked in at your hotel. A Friday evening dinner is also available just over the road in the new Saint Pancras complex. Conference Dinner and Networking Evenings Conference Dinner and Networking Events have been organised for the Friday and Saturday nights, both held in private rooms and offering vegetarian and vegan options. The Friday dinner will be a traditional English four-course meal at the acclaimed Betjeman Arms, Saint Pancras, costing £34 per head not including drinks. The Saturday dinner will be a four-course meal at the renowned Italian restaurant Ciao Bella, costing £41.50 per head including half a litre of house wine per head. Places are limited for both venues and need to be booked and paid for in advance. Please e-mail organiser Michael Benis here if you are interested in attending either of the evenings, stating any dietary requirements. Accommodation We have been able to negotiate a range of attractive accommodation offers for delegates, set out below, starting with the cheapest and proceeding to the most expensive. Please also note the London Host Scheme at the bottom of this page, which offers additional networking opportunities. All the hotel prices are per room, so you can halve your accommodation expenses if you share with a colleague. The name of each hotel links directly to their website. · The Arriva Hotel From £70 per room per night · The Premier Inn £90 per room per night · Hotel Megaro From £140 per room per night Last but not least, we are offering a London Host Scheme: · If you are a London-based delegate who would be interested in hosting and networking with a colleague based outside London or the UK, please register for the scheme by e-mailing organiser Michael Benis here. · If you are based outside London and are interested in being hosted by a London-based colleague, e-mail Michael by clicking here. · Michael will then try and link you up. Please put any specific requests, including dietary preferences in your e-mail subject line and body. · We cannot guarantee we will be successful in finding accommodation for everyone who would like it. So, if you need accommodation, please nevertheless make sure you also budget for a hotel. · Similarly, we cannot guarantee the compatibility of host and guest. We will simply put you in contact with one another and cross you off the list. · To incentivise this networking opportunity, however, we will be offering a bottle of delicious organic red wine to one of our generous hosts, to be selected at random in the prize draw. And now there’s a car-share scheme! Finally, we’ve received a brilliant suggestion from one conference delegate that we also run a car-share scheme, so here it is! If you’re interested in sharing the costs of your travel while also helping reduce emissions, please e-mail Michael here and he will put people travelling from the same area in touch with one another. That way you can start networking before the conference even starts! |
